Design With
Gray

Decorators say it has never been easier to decorate in style. Gray is the latest color trend and it's a snap to use. You're going to see a whole spectrum of cool grays paired with pops of color. The new soft shades of gray include stone, putty and granite.
Gray is much easier to coordinate than beige. You'll also be seeing gray palettes spiced up with silvery greens, oranges, copper, white, and olive green.
Design mavens predict that fabric textures with sleek metallic thread will be paired with brushed steels, black glass and copper surfaces.
In accessories, shine and curve are all the rage. You'll find lots of color in glass accessories.

Surgery Gets Less
Invasive
Using laparoscopy eliminated the need for large incisions for operations such as appendectomies. The small incisions healed faster, speeding recovery.
Now, laparoscopy can be done with just one small cut. TransEnterix of Durham, N.C., has consolidated the cameras, lights, and blades previously used into a single instrument. When inserted through a port, the device fans out.
Surgeons at York-Presbyterian Hospital say the new instrument eliminates scars, but it doesn't shorten recovery time.

Open Cans in the Fridge

Temporarily storing open cans of food in the refrigerator is not hazardous to your health, say doctors at the Mayo Clinic. The taste of the food might not be as good. They recommend storing in a sealed plastic or glass container.
When a can is opened, its contents are exposed to oxygen, which begins the process of degrading the interior of the can. Some cans have a white lining on the inside to prevent its degrading. Foods stored in cans without the white lining will taste different in a couple of days, especially acidic foods
Landscaping Question Corner…

Q.        How can I create more privacy in my backyard?

A.Beyond installing a tall, wooden fence, there are actually a number of things you can do to create a private, serene retreat in your backyard.

Hedges and trees work wonders for enclosing your space and also help to drown out noise from the outside world. Rock walls also provide considerable privacy and are an attractive alternative to traditional wooden fences.

Take your quest for privacy one step further and enclose your entertaining area with a pergola, gazebo or by building an outdoor room, complete with a quasi-ceiling and - at least a few - walls.

To really drive that peaceful “I’m in another world” feel home, let me install a garden pond or fountain. These beautiful accents serve two purposes: one, they provide a little “white noise” to help drown out your neighbors and two, they provide a relaxing focal point for your outdoor space

Coupon Fantasy

If you have been chiding yourself for not cutting coupons so you can save at the grocery store, the Food Network has some comforting news for you. They say coupons are used to attract new consumers to items they wouldn't otherwise buy. Don’t buy the item because you have a coupon. Decide if the coupon is for something you really need. Look for coupons that save you money on the everyday items you use. Remember, saving as little as $5 is good for a gallon of gas! Or think of it like finding a $5 bill! I like that!
