Learn and Revise
Did you spend way too much time caring for your landscape last season? Are there plants that just never really do well? Now is the time to review and replace. If mowing is occupying your weekends, then give us a call to get on a maintenance schedule or perhaps a new design is in order. Hardscape elements can reduce your mowing time and add a wonderful visual accent to your garden, not to mention our much needed water savings. Hard-to-grow plants from last season should be replaced with something new, preferably a more hardy variety that won’t require such tedious upkeep.

Plant
You can plant many fruit trees in February as well as some veggies such as broccoli, asparagus and cabbage.  Now is also a good time to start planting tomatoes but be prepared to protect them against frost. Many nurseries now carry a new product called “Wall o’Water” that insulate tomato and pepper plants against freezing temperatures, not that we have to worry about that here in sunny San Diego, but great idea.

Want to talk about your landscaping issues? Give us a call – we’d love to help you find the perfect landscaping theme for your property.

Save On Your
Tax Refund

When the average income tax refund for 2011 is calculated, it will be about $2,500. Whether you file online or on paper, you now have the opportunity to split your refund so it will automatically be sent to three different places, like an investment or checking account.

When a big deposit shows up in a checking account balance, most of it will probably be spent, often not wisely.

You can designate an amount to be sent to a savings account, an IRA, education savings, or a health savings account. To deposit to more than one account, fill out Form 8888, available at www.irs.gov.

A Bit of Laughter…

A man woke up from anesthesia after surgery, and saw his wife sitting by his side. His eyes fluttered open and he said, "You're beautiful!" Then he fell asleep again. His wife had never heard him say that so she stayed by his side. A couple minutes later his eyes fluttered open and he said "You're cute!" She said "What happened to 'beautiful'? He replied, "The drugs are wearing off!"
